Stellini: We Missed Luck Inside the Box, and Fatigue Cost Us Offensive Sharpness
Wednesday 14-01-2026
Christian Stellini, assistant coach of Napoli, confirmed that his team lacked offensive effectiveness during the goalless draw against Parma at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, despite controlling the flow of the game for long periods.

Stellini said after the match that small details decided the result, explaining: "We missed a bit of luck because we reached the penalty area many times, but each time we did not get the right rebound or the proper timing."

The assistant coach continued, referring to the problems in the first half, adding: "We were slow and inaccurate in ball possession, which made it difficult for us to create real chances against Parma's organized defense."

Stellini went on with his analysis, emphasizing that fatigue was an influencing factor, and added: "We have been playing for a long time with the same players, and every two or three days you may lose the sharpness that comes from restoring physical and mental energy."

He continued speaking about the team's mental aspect, saying: "We must keep our calm and work on the mentality of the players and the team as a whole," pointing out that continuous absences increase the difficulty of managing the squad.

Stellini concluded his statements by explaining the reasons behind some changes, saying that David Neres felt pain again after participating, and also confirmed that there is no set date for the return of André-Frank Zambo Anguissa after suffering a relapse during his recovery phase.
