Tunisia Bids Farewell to Africa Cup of Nations in Penalty Shootout Against Mali

The Tunisian national team was eliminated from the Africa Cup of Nations after losing on penalties, following a 1-1 draw in regular and extra time in the round of 16 against Mali, at the Mohammed V Sports Complex.

The Malian team played with ten men after Woyo Coulibaly was sent off in the 26th minute due to a strong tackle on a Tunisian player. Despite the red card, Mali delivered a very good performance and managed to reduce the threat from the Tunisian team, which failed to register any shots on goal against Mali.

In the 88th minute, Tunisia scored the leading goal through Ferass Chawat with a wonderful header following a cross from Elyes Saad, before Mali was awarded a penalty in the 90+3 minute, through which Lassine Sinayoko scored the equalizer.

The two teams proceeded to extra time which did not produce any change, then the match was decided by a penalty shootout that favored Mali with a 3-2 score.

Mali will face Senegal in the quarter-finals.
