The memory recalls immortal pages from the history of the Africa Cup of Nations, after exceptional scoring records were made by legendary names in a single edition of the tournament over the decades.

At the top of the list is Mulamba Ndaye, the star of the Democratic Republic of Congo, who etched his name in golden letters by scoring 9 goals in the 1974 edition, a record that remains unbroken to this day.

Following him is the Ivorian Laurent Pokou, who shined strongly during the 1970 edition by scoring 8 goals, before repeating his historic presence later with six goals in the 1968 tournament.

The 2021 edition witnessed the rise of the Cameroonian Vincent Aboubakar, who found the net 8 times, reminding fans of the great scorers’ achievements in the continental championship.

Egyptian Hossam Hassan also inscribed his name among the greats by scoring 7 goals in the 1998 edition, the same number achieved by South African Benny McCarthy during the same tournament.
