Al-Ittihad on the Verge of Deciding Fabinho's Future
The technical committee at Al-Ittihad Club is reviewing the renewal of the contract for Brazilian player Fabinho Tavares, a member of the first team, before he enters the free agency period in the upcoming phase.
Fabinho joined Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2023 on a three-season contract, which will keep him with the club until the end of the current season, that is, summer 2026.
The player is scheduled to enter the free agency period at the beginning of next January, which has prompted the Al-Ittihad management to assess his future in the team early.
The renewal study came as part of a new tactical approach aimed at utilizing Fabinho in the defensive line during some matches, alongside the Portuguese player Danilo Pereira.
This approach became clear during the recent training camp held in Dubai, where Fabinho played as a starter in the friendly matches against Palm City and UAE's Gulf United.
Al-Riyadiyah newspaper reported that if the study shows positive results, Al-Ittihad's management will begin official negotiations with the player to renew his contract.
It is worth mentioning that Fabinho has played 80 matches for Al-Ittihad since joining in the summer of 2023, during which he managed to score 12 goals across various competitions.
