Officially.. Ajax announces the signing of Tomiyasu
Ajax Amsterdam announced today that they have reached an official agreement with Japanese defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, who will join the team on a free transfer.
The 27-year-old defender signed a short-term contract lasting until June 30, 2026. Tomiyasu became a free agent during the last summer transfer window after mutually terminating his contract with his previous club, Arsenal FC.
The signing of Tomiyasu comes as a step to strengthen Ajax's defensive options, despite the player having suffered a series of injuries in recent seasons, the latest being knee surgery in February 2024, which ended his time with Arsenal.
The player has completed his rehabilitation program and joined the group training sessions of his new team, making him ready to resume his football career in Amsterdam.
