Kiev: The Most Important Thing Is to Earn Points, and We Work to Prove Our Value
Monday 15-12-2025
Christian Kiev, the head coach of Inter Milan, spoke after his team's 2-1 away win against Genoa in the Italian league, commenting on his players' performance, Inter's return to the top of the standings, as well as the reasons behind the changes he made during the match.

Kiev said: "I prefer to talk about the match itself and what I saw on the pitch. It was a tough game in a strong atmosphere against a team that has been performing well since De Rossi took charge."

He continued: "In the end, the most important thing is to secure the three points, and that is what we succeeded in doing."

The Inter Milan coach added, explaining his tactical decisions: "The changes were based on the players' readiness and physical energy."

He went on: "At the start, with a two-goal lead, I was supposed to bring on Bony, but I preferred Thuram because we needed more speed."

Kiev continued: "I decided to take off Zielinski and bring Akanghi forward because we needed midfielders with stronger organizational skills and greater discipline."

The Nerazzurri coach addressed the downplaying of his team this season: "Months ago, people expected us to finish eighth or tenth as if the team was finished."

He added: "We are working hard to show our true value."

Christian Kiev concluded his statements by talking about the upcoming phase, saying: "We need consistency in everything. We know what we have to do and how to do it. Sometimes we succeed, and sometimes we don’t, but our focus now is on the important next match, and we are not thinking about anything else."
