Japanese defender Takehiro Tomiyasu is on the verge of joining Ajax Amsterdam, as he is scheduled to undergo a medical examination on Tuesday in preparation for finalizing the deal, according to journalist Sami Maqbel.

According to the details, the preliminary agreement stipulates that Tomiyasu will sign a contract lasting only until the end of the current season, without including a clause allowing for an extension. He will join the Dutch team in the near future, provided he passes the medical examinations successfully.

Tomiasso joined Ajax on a free transfer after mutually terminating his contract with Arsenal in July, making him available on the market as a free agent.

Ajax hopes to benefit from the experience of the Japanese international defender to strengthen its defense during the second half of the season, especially given the team's need for players with European-level experience.
