Statements made by Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk have once again raised doubts about the future of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah with the English club. While van Dijk emphasized Salah's great importance within the "Reds" squad, he hinted that the decision about his stay is not in the hands of any one party alone.

In statements reported by the media, the Dutch defender expressed his hope that Salah, whom he described as one of the team's leaders, would continue until the end of the season and beyond.

Van Dijk said, "We all hope that [Salah] returns and remains important to us for the rest of the season. I hope he stays because he is one of the team leaders; he is very important and still is, as you saw with another assist."

However, Van Dijk added a tone of uncertainty about the future, pointing to the ever-changing nature of the football world, and explained: "But on the other hand, we all know football, and we have no idea what will happen."
