Moroccan National Team Shines Against Syria and Leads the Atlas Lions to the Semifinals

Three stars of the Moroccan national team caught the spotlight during their valuable 1-0 victory over the Syrian national team in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Arab Cup. Walid Azaro, Sofiane Bouftini, and Marwan Saadan each delivered outstanding performances that directly contributed to the "Atlas Lions" reaching the semifinals.

The brilliance from the front line began with the striker Walid Azaro, who came on as a substitute following Tarek Tissoudali's injury and quickly made a difference by scoring the winning goal in the 79th minute. Azaro played for 66 minutes, during which he took two shots on goal, one of which found the back of the net. He also touched the ball 38 times and completed 60% of his 15 passes.

In the backline, defender Sofiane Bouftini stood out prominently, forming a strong defensive pillar thanks to his precise interventions and successful reading of the Syrian attacks, especially in the first half. He also contributed offensively, coming close to scoring a goal by shooting twice on target. Bouftini touched the ball 64 times and completed 50 accurate passes out of 54, achieving a success rate of 93%. Defensively, he cleared the ball five times, recovered it four times, and committed one foul.

As for Marwan Saadan, he continued to deliver a balanced and effective defensive performance. He took a shot on target and another just wide of the goal. He touched the ball 56 times and completed 37 passes out of 45, achieving an 82% pass accuracy. Defensively, he cleared the ball seven times, recovered it twice, and won one ground duel and four aerial duels out of six.

With this outstanding collective performance, the trio confirmed their readiness to lead the Moroccan national team to a new stage of the tournament, as they await the upcoming challenges in the semifinal.
