Ilan Kabbal: Proud to Return to the Algerian National Team
Algerian international Ilan Kabbal has raised his ambitions with the national team ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations finals starting on December 21, affirming that his goal goes beyond merely being part of the squad; he is focused on proving himself and securing a key position in the lineup.
The Paris FC player said in a statement to Foot Mercato that he felt very proud after returning to the national team following a four-year absence, explaining: "Seeing my name on the list was an honor for me. I have long dreamed of coming back, and my goal is not just to participate, but to continue and prove myself."
Kabbal pointed out that his familiarity with some players from previous call-ups helped him adapt quickly within the national team. He added that the atmosphere created by fans in Algerian stadiums remains exceptional, saying, "Nothing compares to Algerian stadiums, perhaps except for the Velodrome. Playing in Tizi Ouzou was an unforgettable experience; the fans' chants never stop and give the players tremendous energy."
The midfielder emphasized that he is working hard to secure a spot in the final squad participating in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), explaining that he is in good physical and mental condition. He added that the Algerian national team is always expected to compete for the title, saying: "When you represent Algeria, you have to play to go as far as possible. We have experienced players, and we will fight to give our best."
Kabbal praised the young duo Ibrahim Mazza and Badr Eddine Bouanani, considering their talent and early maturity to be an important addition to the national team: "Their choice to play for Algeria comes from the heart, and this is significant."
Kabbal concluded his speech by emphasizing that his biggest dream is to participate in the World Cup, adding: "Since my childhood, I have dreamed of the World Cup. I will do my utmost to achieve this goal with Algeria."
