Zamalek Files Complaint About Refereeing in Kaizer Chiefs Match
Sunday 30-11-2025
The Board of Directors of Zamalek Club has decided to file an official complaint regarding the referee's decision in the match against Kaizer Chiefs, which took place this evening, Saturday, as part of the second round of the group stage in the African Confederation Cup and ended in a 1-1 draw.

Zamalek clarified in its statement that this action comes after the refereeing errors that occurred during the team's match against South African side Kaizer Chiefs in the second round of the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Zamalek Club emphasizes in its complaint that the refereeing errors in this match affected the final result. The team deserved to be awarded a penalty for the Angolan player Chico Banza, in addition to the unjustified disallowing of a legitimate goal by the Tunisian player Seifeddine Jaziri, which was unclear to everyone who watched the match. Furthermore, the referee excessively issued yellow cards to Zamalek players throughout the game.

Zamalek, in its complaint to the African Union, demands the necessity of intervention and the selection of appropriate referees to reduce the phenomenon of refereeing errors that affect the outcomes of many matches in the tournament.

The club urgently calls on CAF to implement VAR technology in the upcoming matches, starting from the third round of the group stage. The management of Zamalek Club believes that the absence of VAR in the matches affects the fairness of the competition, and it is time to take decisions that would reform the refereeing system across African tournaments, including the Confederation Cup.
