Pedro Póbiesta, Cape Verde Coach, Wins 2025 African Coach of the Year Award

Pedro Póbiesta, the head coach of the Cape Verde national team, won the 2025 African Coach of the Year award after leading his country to a historic qualification for the 2026 World Cup for the first time.

The announcement of Pobista's victory was made during the CAF Awards ceremony held in the city of Rabat, Morocco, in the presence of prominent football stars from Africa and Europe, as well as representatives of sports federations.

Bubista achieved a major accomplishment with Cape Verde, as his team delivered strong performances in the qualifiers, earning him widespread praise and making him a leading candidate for the award this year.

The race for the prize heated up between three prominent coaches: Walid Regragui, the Moroccan national team head coach; Mohamed Wahbi, the coach of Morocco's under-20 team; and Pobista, the coach of the Green Team.

Boubista received special recognition from the African Union's jury after demonstrating his high technical ability in developing the national team and leading it to compete at the highest continental and global levels.

This achievement marks a pivotal milestone in the coach's career, opening up new opportunities and strengthening his position among the top coaches who have made a significant impact on African football in recent years.
