Dick Advocaat Absent from Curaçao's Historic Match
Wednesday 19-11-2025
The experienced Dutch coach Dick Advocaat will not be able to be with the Curaçao national team for their historic match against hosts Jamaica in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers.

The Curaçao national team only needs a draw in their match against the host in the Jamaican capital, Kingston, early Wednesday morning, to secure their first World Cup qualification, or they can go to the playoffs in case of a loss.

If Curaçao qualifies, it will be the smallest country by population to participate in the World Cup, with a population of less than 200,000 people. This would break Iceland's record from 2018, when its population was about 350,000.

The sad thing is that Advocaat, after Curaçao's 7-0 victory over Bermuda on Saturday, had to return to his home country, the Netherlands, due to his wife's illness. As a result, he will not be present at the match and will only communicate with his assistants.
