FIFA Imposes Ban on Al-Shabab and Al-Riyadh Due to Outstanding Financial Issues
Monday 29-12-2025
The International Football Federation (FIFA) has issued a decision to prevent the clubs Al-Shabab and Al-Riyadh from registering new players until the financial disputes facing both clubs are officially resolved.

FIFA clarified that such decisions are part of the usual regulatory procedures, without disclosing details of the cases, which often relate to financial disputes or contractual violations involving former players or coaches.

This ban is a common measure used by the international federation to ensure transparency and financial compliance within the global football system, as lists of suspended clubs are published periodically so that everyone can keep track of their legal status.

The two clubs joined a list of nine other Saudi clubs from lower divisions, which are: Tuwaiq, Najran, Al-Safa, Al-Wahda, Al-Shu'la, Al-Muhammal, Al-Jandal, Al-Ain, and Ahad, all of which are subject to similar decisions until they settle their financial obligations.

The International Federation confirmed that the lifting of the ban occurs immediately once the issues are resolved or the required payments are made, allowing clubs the opportunity to regain their registration eligibility before the official player registration periods begin.

The decision serves as a reminder to clubs about the importance of financial discipline and adherence to contracts, especially in light of the ongoing monitoring by the international federation to ensure full compliance with regulations regarding player transfers and the resolution of sports disputes.
