Barcelona.. A Huge Offensive Power and Worrying Defensive Weakness
Monday 03-11-2025
The Spanish newspaper 'Sport' reported that FC Barcelona is experiencing a fluctuating start to the season under the management of coach Hans Flick, after three defeats in October and a series of impactful injuries. However, the team still retains its usual offensive strength, being the second highest scoring club in the top five leagues, with 28 goals in 11 matches, behind Bayern Munich, which scored 33 goals in just 9 matches.

The newspaper clarified that the trio of Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal had scored 94 goals last season, and despite the lack of complete harmony among them this year, Barcelona continued to score in all its matches, reaching 50 consecutive games in various competitions without failing to find the net.

In La Liga, Barcelona tops the list of the highest-scoring teams with 26 goals, surpassing Real Madrid and Villarreal, while Marseille leads the scoring charts in France with 25 goals, ahead of Paris Saint-Germain.

However, on the other hand, Barcelona is suffering from clear defensive issues, having conceded goals in 8 consecutive matches across all competitions, a streak not seen since Ronald Koeman's season in 2021. The newspaper noted that the absence of goalkeeper Juan Garcia and the team's struggles with high pressing have made the team more fragile than last season.

Sport added that Barcelona conceded 13 goals in 11 league matches, the same number of goals conceded by teams like Elche, Getafe, and Espanyol, indicating that the team needs to restore its defensive balance if it wants to compete with Real Madrid for the La Liga title.
