Carvajal said, referring to the fact that the team deserved a bigger result: "It was a deserved win, and one could say that the result does not fully reflect our superiority. It was a pivotal match against a direct competitor, and we leave with a great feeling and three important points in the standings."

He added: "We delivered an excellent performance without the ball; we knew when to press and when to fall back. The team suffered very little, and we did not give Barcelona real chances to score."

About being a captain in El Clasico: "It is a great honor to be the captain of Real Madrid and to win against Barcelona here at our stadium. But we are realistic; it is just three points. We hope it will be crucial at the end of the season, but we must continue to work."
