Conte: We Wasted Victory Ourselves, and We Need to Improve
Saturday 18-10-2025
The head coach of Napoli, Antonio Conte, confirmed that his team takes responsibility for the 1-0 loss against Torino in the Italian league, pointing out that individual mistakes and lack of effectiveness in front of goal were the reasons for the defeat.

Conte said: "We passed the ball well and created many chances in the first half, but we were too preoccupied with trying to play beautifully instead of scoring, and in the end, we made their goal ourselves."

He added: "In the second half, we had more energy, but it wasn't enough to equalize. I congratulate Torino on their victory, but the truth is that we lost due to our own mistakes."

He continued: "I said from the beginning of the season that these things are normal; we are working on a new project, and the team's level will depend on the development of the new players and their improvement. We play a match every three days, and there isn't enough time for training, so we need to improve in every match and be patient."

He explained: "The goal came from an individual mistake by Gilmore, even though he had a great match. Our style of play relies on being in the opponent's half, and it's natural to face counter-attacks, and we must deal with them better."

He concluded by saying: "I don't see that we are facing a real defensive problem, but we must accept individual confrontations and work on improving them more in the upcoming matches."
