Milan Identifies Alternatives for Mike Maignan in Anticipation of His Possible Departure
Saturday 11-10-2025
Football Italia reported that AC Milan has settled on two main names as alternative options for their goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who may leave the team for free at the end of the 2025/2026 season.

Maignan's contract with Milan ends at the end of the season, and the two parties have not yet reached an agreement to renew the contract despite ongoing negotiations for several months, due to financial disagreements concerning the player's anticipated salary, as well as Milan's management hesitating to offer a long-term contract to a goalkeeper who will be 31 years old and has experienced fluctuations in performance and some injuries.

According to the same source, major clubs such as Juventus, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich are closely monitoring Maignan's situation and may move to sign him if he leaves San Siro at the end of his contract.

As for potential alternatives, the name of Suzuki, the Parma and Japan national team goalkeeper, stands out, as he has delivered impressive performances since moving from Sint-Truiden, and his market value has recently doubled.

Milan is also considering signing Noah Atubulu, the Freiburg goalkeeper who recently joined the German national team, with a market value estimated at around 18 million euros.

The report noted that young Cagliari goalkeeper Elia Caprile is also an additional option for Milan's management, but the cost of acquiring him would be financially higher compared to Suzuki and Atubulu.
