Serious Accusations Against Algerian Saïd Benrahma in Britain
British media reports have revealed that Algerian international Saïd Benrahma, a star of Saudi club Neom, is facing serious legal charges in Britain after being accused of owning dangerous dogs that caused injury to an American citizen in London.
According to British newspapers, the details of the case date back to July 2023 when Benrahma was residing in the Hornchurch area of East London, where American citizen Luke Rehiem was attacked by one of the player's dogs, which was out of control near his home.
The reports clarified that Benrahma did not attend the court hearing that took place last Thursday at Willesden Magistrates' Court, while his lawyers submitted a defense memorandum denying the charges against him, requesting a postponement of the session in an attempt to reach an amicable settlement with the victim.
The court decided to postpone the hearing to a later session, with the Algerian player required to appear in person or via video at the next session.
British laws indicate that any person allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control may face an unlimited financial penalty or imprisonment, in addition to being prohibited from keeping dogs in the future, or having the animal involved in the incident euthanized.
During his time playing for West Ham United, Benrahma frequently posted on the X platform (formerly Twitter) pictures of his two dogs known as 'Ghost' and 'Kali'.
It is worth mentioning that the Algerian player moved to Neom Saudi Club on loan last January, before signing a permanent contract in April 2025 worth £13 million, after the team was promoted to the Roshan Saudi Professional League.
