Gakpo: It's hard to accept, and we know what we need to do

Liverpool star Cody Gakpo appeared in press statements after the loss against Liverpool, with a score of two to one, in the seventh round of the Premier League.

The player said: "It's hard to accept what happened; I think we played against a very good team. In the first half, they scored a wonderful goal, but the match was balanced. In the second half, we fought hard to equalize, and we played a little better than them, but they were dangerous on the counter-attacks. To concede a goal in the last minute is extremely difficult."

He added: "I think we somehow couldn't maintain the momentum. We need to analyze how and why that happened. We had moments of pressure, and if we had kept pushing at that time, we might have scored a 2-1 goal, but somehow we lost momentum, and they regained their strength. They pushed us back with counter-attacks and scored the winning goal at the last moment."

Regarding the team's recent state: "I don't want to say that we lack confidence. I understand what you mean, but during this period, things are not going in our favor. Perhaps five matches ago, they were going in our favor. This is football. We have to accept that and keep fighting, and we must continue to apply pressure."

He concluded about the criticism after three consecutive losses: "When you play for a club of this size, it's natural that losing three consecutive matches is unacceptable. We know that as players, and we understand the situation well. We know what we need to do, which is to get back to winning ways."
