Gerard Martin: We Need to Raise Our Level Against Teams Like Paris Saint-Germain
Gerard Martin, the Barcelona full-back, acknowledged that his team was overcome by Paris Saint-Germain, especially in the second half of the match held as part of the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.
Martin said: "I think we started the match well, but in the second half they imposed their style of play on us, we lost control and made it easy for them to reach the ball. It is natural for a team of this level to score goals."
He added: "The self-criticism is that we did not play as we wanted, they imposed their pace of play on us, it is better that this happens now so we can correct things before the upcoming matches."
Martin addressed the team's performance in the second half: "In the second half, we were not at our best level, we lost balance and left wide spaces, and they dominated us throughout the half. We need to demand more from ourselves against teams of this level; today we could not show that, but I am sure we will have other opportunities to prove ourselves in the future."
