Arne Slot, the head coach of Liverpool, made statements after his team's 1-0 loss to Turkish side Galatasaray in the second round of the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, confirming that the team has not strayed too far from its level despite the defeat.

The only goal of the match came in the 16th minute from a penalty executed by Victor Osimhen, giving his team an early lead and guiding them to victory.

In his statements, Slot emphasized that the team's new star Florian Wirtz needs some time to adapt to the demands of the Premier League, saying: "Wirtz participated in dangerous situations we created, the starting lineup was different by three to four positions and I had to manage situations like Ekitike and Alisson, so we need to rotate, but not everyone is adapted yet."

Regarding the penalty awarded to Galatasaray, Slot added: "Szoboszlai did nothing wrong, we were a bit deceived in such situations, they turned a 20% penalty into a 100%, and regarding the VAR decision that rejected a penalty for Liverpool in stoppage time, he said: "There was no simulation, the referee awarded it, he touched the ball, but there was contact, it was not acting."

Slot also touched on the team's level and players' performance, clarifying that the team showed many positive aspects despite the consecutive defeats: "I saw a lot of good things, our style of play and control of the match were good, in the second half there wasn't much space to play due to their striker falling, the substitutions, and injuries, the referee blew his whistle exactly eight minutes into stoppage time."

He added: "We are not far off from last season, and we will continue to work on improving our performance in every match, especially with the upcoming challenges."
