Yaicela: Defensive Mistakes Denied Us Victory
Matias Yaicela, the head coach of Al Ahly Saudi Club, confirmed that his team's loss to Pyramids FC from Egypt with a score of 3-1 was painful and difficult for everyone. He pointed out that the three goals conceded by the team came from long balls and defensive mistakes that should not happen in a match like this. He said: "I apologize to the fans; they deserved more than that, and we must rise and show the courage to improve in many areas."
Yaicela added: "Pyramids deserved to win because they were more focused on exploiting their opportunities, while we paid the price for individual mistakes."
He also noted that the team went through a positive phase last season, explaining: "It is clear that we built something special during last season, but the tough schedule led to this decline, and this is an indication that we need to work harder to return to the level we aspire to."
He continued: "Although we came back with a goal during the match, we could not handle the pressure as required. This is a responsibility between the coaching staff and the players, and it is our duty to ensure that such mistakes do not happen again in the future."
He also clarified that he tried to involve Jallin after consulting the medical staff, saying: "The decision was convincing at the time, but the circumstances did not help the player, and we had to change him quickly. These things can happen in football, but they give us lessons for the upcoming stages."
Yaicela concluded his statements by saying: "We feel a great disappointment because we did not achieve the awaited title to please our fans, but I promise them that we will work harder and come back stronger if we avoid these mistakes, as Al Ahly fans always deserve the best."
