Isaac: Ekitiqi didn't realize this, and I trust myself
Liverpool star Alexander Isaac spoke in a press statement after qualifying for the Round of 16 of the English League Cup, following a 2-1 victory over Southampton.
Isaac, who scored the opening goal, said: "It was nice to be back on the pitch and score my first goal here and also achieve the win. A really good night."
He added: "I should have scored earlier as well. That's the nature of a striker; you miss some chances and take others. The important thing is to get over it quickly and be ready for the next opportunity."
He continued: "I trust myself that things will go well, and when I get the chances, I will be able to take advantage of them."
Regarding his readiness to start this week, he said: "I feel good. Every match I play helps me a lot and puts me in better physical shape; it’s hard to explain precisely, it’s a mix of physical and technical readiness. But I feel I’m in good shape and can make a difference."
About Ekitiqi's sending off with a second yellow card after taking off his shirt to celebrate the winning goal he scored, he said: "I’m sure he wasn’t aware that he had a yellow card at that moment. Sometimes when you score a goal, you get caught up in the moment. Of course, it’s unfortunate."
