Weather and Crowd Control: Dominant Factors in the French League Classic
Sunday 21-09-2025
French newspaper "L'Équipe" revealed that the match between Olympique Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain scheduled for this evening, Sunday, at the Vélodrome stadium, is threatened with postponement due to bad weather conditions.

The newspaper indicated that the French meteorological agency has placed the Bouches-du-Rhône area on orange alert, with expectations of storms and heavy rain peaking between 7 PM and 9 PM.

This has prompted the league to consider postponing the match; however, local authorities have so far confirmed the match will proceed, with the possibility of reviewing the decision if the weather worsens.

L'Équipe also clarified that French authorities emphasized the need to enhance crowd entry procedures at the Vélodrome, as Marseille aims to manage this issue following previous incidents of violence, by enforcing the use of printed electronic tickets instead of subscription cards to avoid any attempts at manipulation or illegal entry.

Other media reports mentioned that if the match is postponed today, it will take place tomorrow.
