The Asian Football Confederation Demands Al-Shorta to Resolve Its Organizational Issues
The Iraqi Al-Shorta Club is facing an organizational crisis following remarks from the Asian Football Confederation regarding the team's match against Qatari Al-Sadd, which ended in a positive draw (1-1) last Monday at Al-Zawraa Stadium during the first round of the AFC Champions League.
The Asian Football Confederation pointed out in an official letter that there were several violations related to the poor preparation of the stadium and a lack of attention to important details regarding warm-up areas, in addition to the old age of some of the equipment used, as well as shortcomings in the administrative and technical aspects.
The Confederation demanded the club's management to take urgent measures to rectify the situation, providing a clear action plan by no later than September 23, warning of the possibility of imposing strict penalties that could include depriving the team of hosting its remaining matches in Iraq.
According to sources close to the club, these warnings have prompted Al-Shorta to seriously consider changing its proposed stadium for the tournament, with Basra International Stadium being the closest option, especially with the upcoming match against Saudi Arabia's Al-Ittihad.
