Juventus Coach: I'm Already Tired of This Kind of Matches
Juventus coach Igor Tudor appeared in press statements after the thrilling draw (4-4) against Borussia Dortmund in the opening match of the team's journey in the Champions League at Allianz Arena.
The match witnessed new madness from the Bianconeri, as the team turned around a 4-2 deficit in the 86th minute to a dramatic equalizer thanks to goals from substitute Dusan Vlahovic and Lucid Kelly in stoppage time. This draw comes just days after a dramatic win over Inter 4-3 in Serie A.
Tudor said to Sky Sport Italy: "I'm already tired of this kind of matches. We are conceding too many goals, even though we are scoring a lot too, but we cannot continue like this. It was very difficult to maintain physical levels after a tough match against Inter, while it seemed that Dortmund had an easy match over the weekend."
He added: "The team showed great heart. The players who came off the bench made a difference again, just like in all the last four matches. We are always dangerous in attack, but the goals we conceded were very easy and could have been avoided. In the end, football is decided by individual quality, like Kenan Yildiz's goal that came out of nowhere."
He emphasized: "I said before the match that with the pressure of matches and the availability of five substitutions, there are no longer starting players and others on the bench. Everyone is important. Matches are often decided in the last minutes, which is why the role of substitutes becomes crucial. What happened against Inter and today is the best evidence of that."
Regarding fatigue and the busy schedule: "I can't do much in training with this busy schedule. There are players who were completely exhausted like Kenan Yildiz and Khephren Thuram. This is the maximum we can offer under such circumstances."
He concluded: "The team's spirit and the desire to work hard are the foundation we need to build on. We were missing some important elements like Francesco Conceição, while Cambiaso returned after three weeks of absence, as well as Bremer after a long injury period. We have to take all these factors into account."
