Kievo Considers Excluding Sommer Against Ajax
Monday 15-09-2025
Inter Milan's head coach, Cristian Kievo, faces a dilemma in the goalkeeper position ahead of the anticipated match against Ajax in the UEFA Champions League, as he is seriously considering excluding Swiss goalkeeper Jan Sommer in favor of Spanish goalkeeper Josep Martinez.

According to the website "Football Italia," Kievo is contemplating this change after Sommer's disappointing performance during the match against Juventus, where he conceded four goals from four shots on target.

Reports indicate that Kievo no longer considers any player untouchable, as Dimarco started the Juventus match on the bench, while Lautaro Martinez played only one half and Barella was substituted during the match.

Inter is preparing to face Ajax in Amsterdam this week, in the first round of the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, in an attempt to compensate for last season's final loss to Paris Saint-Germain.

Inter had signed Josep Martinez from Genoa last summer for 13.5 million euros, plus 1.5 million in variables, but he has only participated in 10 matches due to the coaching staff's reliance on Sommer as the first choice.

Reports suggest that Martinez may gradually get the opportunity to participate, especially given the decline in performance of 36-year-old Sommer and the approaching end of his contract with the club in the summer of 2026.
