Amorim: We Could Have Avoided the Goals, and That's What We Feel
Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim appeared in a press statement after the loss to Manchester City 3-0 in the fourth round of the English Premier League.
The coach said: "If you look at the goals we conceded, you'll find they were avoidable. That was the biggest difference. We could have been better, especially on the second goal. We conceded goals that we could have avoided."
He added: "The biggest difference was in the transitions. When we had the chance to transition, we didn't score, while in the second half, they exploited the transitions better and we struggled at those moments."
He continued: "We can perform better, that's clear. But again in the transitions – the third goal came due to a lack of quality in the connection between players; no one knew who should go for the ball, so the striker was free to score. As for the first goal, it came even though it was amidst four players, and we should have been more aggressive at that moment."
He added: "In such matches, we need to be perfect, but we weren't today. The frustration is always the same; that's what we feel, because with the large number of chances we create, we should be scoring goals."
He concluded: "We have to work on a lot of things before the next match."
