Diyala Club achieved an ideal start in its journey in the Iraqi Stars League for the 2025–2026 season, after managing to defeat Baghdad Municipality with a score of 2-1 in the match held this evening at the Ahmed Rady Stadium, as part of the first round.
Diyala took the lead in the 67th minute through its player Waka Ramadan, before the home team managed to equalize with a goal in the 80th minute by Thamer Al-Salhi, who scored an own goal.
However, Baghdad Municipality's joy was short-lived, as Ayman Al-Safaqsi quickly secured the victory for Diyala with a last-minute goal in the 84th minute, giving his team its first three valuable points at the start of its campaign in the tournament.
