Dembélé Outshines Yamal and Wins the Onze d'Or 2025 Award
Readers of the French magazine 'Onze Mondial' have chosen Ousmane Dembélé, the Paris Saint-Germain striker, as the best player in the world for 2025, after receiving 32.5% of the votes, narrowly surpassing Barcelona star Lamine Yamal, who received 30% of the votes, while Frenchman Kylian Mbappé came in third with 12.5%.
These results come just a few days before the Ballon d'Or award ceremony, which will be held in Paris on September 22, where the identity of the official award winner remains uncertain due to the voting ambiguity among the top players.
Dembélé is currently absent from his team's matches due to injury, including the anticipated Paris Saint-Germain clash against Barcelona on October 1, but he was seen proudly holding the Onze d'Or award.
In statements to 'Onze Mondial', Dembélé emphasized the importance of on-field performance and said: "I have always preferred to speak through my level on the field; over the past three years with Paris Saint-Germain, I have improved a lot in this aspect."
He also praised the role of coach Luis Enrique in his development, pointing out the pressing strategies implemented by the team: "The coach asks me to constantly press the opponents without giving them a chance to think or move freely; it’s not an individual responsibility but a collective contribution from the whole team, and that’s what distinguishes our playing style."
Last season witnessed a remarkable performance from Dembélé, as he actively contributed to achieving notable results for his team.
