The German coach Hans Flick, the head coach of Barcelona, is nearing an extension of his contract with the Catalan team until 2028, with an option for an additional season.

According to the Spanish newspaper 'Marca', Barcelona and Flick have reached a final agreement regarding the renewal, with only the official announcement remaining in the upcoming period.

Flick took over as the coach of Barcelona in 2024, succeeding coach Xavi Hernandez, and succeeded in his first season in leading the team to win a domestic treble consisting of the Spanish League, the Copa del Rey, and the Super Cup.

Barcelona continues to deliver strong performances this season, as they are close to retaining the league title, having expanded the gap to 11 points with Real Madrid with five rounds remaining in the competition.

The newspaper explained that both parties have a clear vision for the next season, which is expected to witness significant changes at the team formation level.

It also pointed out that the continuation of Laporta as the club president was a decisive factor in finalizing the renewal file, especially since Flick tied his continuation to the current administration's stay.

The German coach is expected to sign a new contract for an additional two seasons, with a clause allowing for a third season extension, as part of the club's stable technical project.
