Sunday 11-01-2026
The German club Wolfsburg announced its signing of Danish football legend Christian Eriksen on a free transfer after his contract with Manchester United expired. The 33-year-old midfielder signed a contract that extends until 2027 and will wear the number 24 jersey with the 'Wolves'.

The club's sporting director, Sebastian Schindzielorz, said: "With Christian Eriksen, we are getting a player who has experienced everything at the highest level. His immense experience, technical quality, and character will give our young players a significant boost. After the structural changes this summer and the signing of many talents, his presence alongside our captain Max Arnold is an ideal addition to the team."

Eriksen is considered the most capped player in the history of the Danish national team, with 144 international appearances (46 goals), and has participated in three World Cups and three Euro tournaments. He made an inspiring comeback story after suffering a cardiac arrest at 'Euro 2021', returning to the pitch in a remarkable fashion.

At the club level, the Danish star has an illustrious European career, having played over 300 matches in the Premier League, in addition to his experiences with Ajax Amsterdam, Tottenham, Inter Milan, Brentford, and Manchester United. He has three Dutch league titles with Ajax, an Italian league title with Inter, and the League Cup and FA Cup with Manchester United.

After signing, Eriksen said: "I am very happy to embark on my first experience in the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg. I feel that I can make a contribution here, especially with many of my national team colleagues in the squad. The discussions with the management were excellent, and I look forward to starting this new challenge."
