Artificial Intelligence Shocks Real Madrid and Barcelona in Champions League Predictions
Wednesday 10-09-2025
It appears that Premier League clubs dominate the predictions for winning the UEFA Champions League title for the 2025/2026 season, according to analyses by Opta's artificial intelligence, at a time when Real Madrid and Barcelona have only very limited chances of winning.

The data based on 10,000 simulations indicated that Liverpool is the most favored candidate to win the title with a probability of 20.4%, followed by Arsenal at 16%, benefiting from the attacking strength of the Reds and the defensive solidity of the Gunners.

Paris Saint-Germain, the champion of the previous edition, ranked third with a probability of 12%, surpassing all Spanish clubs.

Despite the rich history of Real Madrid with 15 titles and Barcelona with 5 titles, the predictions were not in their favor, as Barcelona came in fifth place with a probability of 8.4%, tied with Manchester City, while Real Madrid only received a probability of 5.8%.

In contrast, Atletico Madrid's chance of winning did not exceed 0.6%, Athletic Bilbao 0.5%, and Villarreal 0.4%.

Among the top ten candidates, there are five English clubs, which are:

Liverpool.

Arsenal.

Manchester City.

Chelsea 7%.

Newcastle 3%.

This dominance reflects the continued English supremacy, especially after last season's results, where Real Madrid eliminated Manchester City, but lost to Liverpool and Arsenal, while Girona also failed against the same two teams.

Opta also analyzed the difficulty of group stage matches, with Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, and PSV Eindhoven at the top of the teams with the most challenging matchups, with a difficulty rate of 92.4%.

Atletico Madrid ranked sixth with a difficulty of 91.7%, in a group that includes Liverpool, Arsenal, and Inter Milan, while teams like Copenhagen, Paphos, Arsenal, and Tottenham received relatively easier draws.

The final match is set to take place at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest on May 30, 2026, where the accuracy of the artificial intelligence predictions will be confirmed.
