Tuchel: We Proved What I See, and the Credit Goes to the Players
England national team coach Thomas Tuchel made statements to the press after the 5-0 victory over Serbia in the sixth round of the European qualifiers for the World Cup.
The coach said: "I am very happy with the team and the coaching staff. We had an excellent week from start to finish. We proved what I see every day in this camp, and that makes me very happy."
He added: "We played with great enthusiasm, worked with a high team spirit, and showed our quality. We prevented Serbia from taking any shots on goal, which requires a lot of effort, great enthusiasm, and extraordinary work that often goes unappreciated. It's wonderful to see it."
He emphasized: "I discovered Elliot Anderson through his performance with Nottingham. He played well against Andorra, deserved to play again, and delivered another great performance."
He concluded: "Every match is different from the other. We had a meeting at the beginning of the week. We have only trained for three weeks, which is usually half of a pre-season period. It takes time, and there are weeks of breaks in between. The players delivered an amazing performance. The credit goes to them; they performed astonishingly - that's the standard."
