The Turkish club Fenerbahce continues to look for a new coach following the dismissal of Portuguese José Mourinho, with Italian and Turkish reports confirming that Italian coach Luciano Spalletti is at the top of the list of candidates for the position.

Mourinho was dismissed on August 29 after being eliminated from the UEFA Champions League qualifiers for the 2025/2026 season against Benfica with an aggregate score of 1-0, prompting Fenerbahce's management to act quickly to choose a suitable replacement.

According to the website "Football Italia," Spalletti has become a prominent candidate after ending his contract with the Italian national team following the loss to Norway in the World Cup 2026 qualifiers.

Also highlighted among the candidates are Portuguese coach Sergio Conceicao, who had a brief stint with Milan, and former Tottenham coach Ange Postecoglou.

On another note, these developments coincide with the upcoming presidential elections at Fenerbahce, where candidate Sadetin Saran confirmed his full support for appointing Conceicao, indicating that his personality aligns with the club's ambitions.
