Dragan Stojkovic, the coach of the Serbia national team, praised Alexander Mitrovic, the star of Al-Hilal, following reports about his potential departure from the club due to recurring injuries to his hamstring.

Stojkovic has called up Mitrovic for the upcoming training camp in September.

In statements made at a press conference before the matches against Latvia and England in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Stojkovic said: "I am not pleased with some players not participating with their clubs, especially Mitrovic, and we will talk to him about his readiness."

He added: "Mitrovic has not played any matches for a long time, but I do not know his situation at his club; that is not my job. In any case, I would like him to play more minutes."

He concluded: "Mitrovic does not need tests to prove himself; he is a very important player and has great potential. We will evaluate his health condition completely, and based on that, we will make some future decisions."
