Technical Glitch Puts Damac in Trouble with FIFA

The International Football Federation (FIFA) has temporarily placed Damac Club on the list of clubs banned from registering players, following the return of a financial payment to the club's account due to a technical glitch in the bank transfer process.

An official source revealed to "Al-Riyadiyah" that the club received a letter from FIFA early last Friday inquiring about an outstanding amount in one of the recently closed cases, where Damac clarified that the amount was indeed transferred but returned to the account.

The source explained that the timing of the letter coinciding with the weekend bank holidays on Friday and Saturday caused a delay in re-transferring the amount, prompting the club's management to commit to FIFA to return the amount within two working days.

It was indicated that FIFA showed understanding of the situation, confirming that the club's inclusion on the ban list is merely a routine procedure that will be lifted automatically once the payment is completed and the file is officially closed.

The source pointed out that Damac's management is keen to adhere to all its commitments and strives to deal professionally with various parties, but some technical malfunctions or banking procedures may occasionally lead to delays in the arrival of dues.

It is noteworthy that the latest list issued by FIFA regarding clubs banned from registering players showed that there are 21 Saudi clubs included, among them Damac, according to what was published last Friday.
