Iraqi League Overcomes July Dilemma
The Iraqi Stars League is approaching a new phase after years of suffering, with developmental plans put in place by the Iraqi Football Association in collaboration with Spain's La Liga, which oversees the championship.
The league's media director, Hussein Al-Khursani, said: "The Iraqi league is on the verge of an important and positive change in its upcoming season, as the final touches are currently being put on the dates and venues of the matches, in addition to holding the draw using artificial intelligence for the first time, similar to European championships."
He added: "The league will kick off on September 13, with its scheduled date, along with new additions that will be seen this season, while the opening ceremony will take place a day earlier, featuring a grand carnival attended by the President of La Liga and several of its representatives in the capital, Baghdad, with many surprises included in the event."
He continued: "The new season of the Iraqi league will witness the addition of modern technologies, most notably the spider camera technology, which has been fully equipped and tested, and is now in service by the broadcasting company, making the television coverage different and distinctive, and the audience will have a chance to experience technologies and events that are being introduced for the first time."
He pointed out: "There are some obstacles that have caused the postponement of the Iraqi Super Cup, as it was supposed to be held with the participation of six teams, but it will now be held between only two teams, bringing together the league champion Al-Shorta and the Iraq Cup champion Duhok, with the match date to be determined very soon, before the season starts."
Al-Khursani concluded by saying: "The Iraqi league will overcome the July dilemma, as the season will end for the first time on May 27 of next year, because the schedule does not include any delays, and because the Iraqi team will not have significant commitments unlike in previous years when it participated in World Cup qualifiers."
He added: "The league is witnessing an active movement in the transfer market, as top clubs have succeeded in making quality deals that have raised the market value of the league, hoping to also enhance its technical value."
