Arteta: I Won't Comment on Signing Eze, This is the Team's Situation
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta appeared in a press conference to talk about tomorrow's match against Leeds United in the second round of the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium.
The coach began discussing the signing of Eze from Crystal Palace: "There is nothing for me to comment on, I cannot talk about any player who is not part of our team yet."
Regarding Kai Havertz's injury, Arteta said: "We do not yet know the severity of the injury; we need more time and tests to clarify. I don’t want to go into details, but he is not ready to participate, and we will determine later what needs to be done."
He continued about the team's condition: "Christian Norgaard will not be in the squad, while Ben White we will see his situation; we need to manage Jurrien Timber's loads because he has been out for a long time, and Gabriel Jesus is improving significantly, the injury was severe but he is on the right track."
On the conditions for signing new players: "This is the first condition, that they have a genuine desire to be with us, then we look at the character and what the player can add to the team. If the player has grown up supporting Arsenal, that gives us something extra in terms of enthusiasm and motivation."
Regarding Viktor Gyökeres's participation for 60 minutes in his first match, the Spanish coach clarified: "It depended on the development of the match, and it was physically demanding, so we decided to substitute him after he delivered what was needed, and we brought on Havertz to change the pace. He is very excited and has trained wonderfully this week; he is in good shape."
Arteta praised the collaboration with the club's sporting director, Andrea Berta, saying: "I work with great people, and Berta stands out for his professionalism, accuracy, and determination, adding something different to us."
