Police Considering Signing Jordanian National Star
The Police Club has once again become the focus of Iraqi football fans after entering into serious negotiations with Yazan Al-Naimat, the forward for the Jordanian national team and star of Al-Arabi Qatari Club, one of the best forwards in Asia, in an attempt to strengthen the team's attack in preparation for the new season.
Al-Naimat is known for his great ability to influence matches and make a difference, which has led the Police management to seek his signing for a long time. However, the deal has faced several obstacles, the most notable of which is the huge financial value demanded by the player, in addition to his current preference to stay outside the Iraqi league and not consider a transfer at this time.
According to informed sources, the President of the Police Club and the President of the Iraqi Football Association, Adnan Darjal, personally intervened and contacted the player's agent in recent days, in a move aimed at facilitating negotiations and trying to overcome the penalty clauses associated with Al-Naimat's contract with Al-Arabi, which extends until June 2027.
The sources added that the Iraqi Federation is seeking to negotiate with the Qatari Football Association to ease or eliminate the penalty clause, while the Police Club continues its efforts to reduce the player's current salary, which amounts to one million dollars annually, as part of an attempt to present a suitable financial offer and convince the player to join the team.
Currently, negotiations are still ongoing only with the player's agent, while Al-Naimat remains outside direct discussions. Any potential transfer depends on the approval of the official Iraqi authorities, including the Minister of Interior, who may issue a special exemption to allow the deal if the financial and administrative conditions are met.
If completed, the deal would represent a strong addition for the Police, which aims to compete for all local and continental titles, as Al-Naimat is considered one of the players capable of enhancing the team's attacking strength and making a difference in major matches, especially in the elite AFC Champions League, in addition to the Iraqi Stars League and the Iraqi Cup.
