The Port Club has ended its relationship with its veteran captain Alaa Abdul Zahra, after the player spent a journey with the team, as the club announced through an official statement published on its social media accounts the end of the association with the former international striker.

The club's statement read: "We bid farewell to the team captain Alaa Abdul Zahra, who apologized for continuing his journey with our club for another season. Thank you, Alaa, and we wish you success in the rest of your sporting career."

Abdul Zahra is considered one of the most prominent names in Iraqi football over the past two decades, as his name has been associated with the national team on several occasions, and he has worn the jerseys of several local and Arab clubs, known for his leadership abilities and long experience on the pitch.

The player joined the Port last season and succeeded in presenting good performances with the team before deciding to leave the club and not renew his contract for a new season, thus putting an end to his career with "Al-Safana."
