Liverpool Starts Negotiations to Renew Konate's Contract

Liverpool FC continues its efforts to retain the services of French defender Ibrahima Konate at Anfield, despite recently signing young defender Giovanni Leoni from Italian club Parma.

Leoni, who is 18 years old, joined Liverpool after passing his medical examination and signing a long-term contract at the club's AXA training center.

Although Konate's current contract expires in the summer of 2026, Liverpool has initiated actual talks with the player's representatives to extend the deal, amid interest from major clubs, led by Real Madrid, to sign him for free after his contract ends.

According to trusted journalist Ben Jacobs, negotiations are still ongoing between the two parties without reaching a final agreement yet, but Liverpool's management continues its efforts to convince the player to extend his contract and ensure his continuity in the team in the coming years.
