Slot Expresses Disappointment After Liverpool's Loss
Sunday 10-08-2025
Liverpool coach, Arne Slot, spoke to TNT Sports after his team lost the Community Shield title to Crystal Palace on penalties, confirming his feelings of disappointment after leading the match but failing to secure the victory.

Slot said: "Of course, it is disappointing if you take the lead and cannot win. It was a close match, and at times I felt we were capable of winning, but the match went to penalties, and they were better than us at that moment."

He added about the course of the match: "In the first 25 minutes, we had chances to score a third goal, but we did not take advantage of them. After their equalizer, I think they were closer to winning, but for a long time, the match was balanced."

Regarding his assessment of the team's performance, the Dutch coach explained: "I have mixed feelings; on the attacking side, we are better than we were last season [against Crystal Palace], but we conceded two goals, and we need to be better defensively."

Slot also touched on the goals of new arrivals Ekiteki and Frimpong, saying: "The first goal was the result of great teamwork, and it's an example of our attacking creativity that will develop further. But if we want to compete for the league title, we need to prevent goals and chances, and that is an area that needs improvement."

He concluded his remarks about the pressure on the team: "We are Liverpool, and the pressure is always there. Whether we sign ten players or none, the pressure is always present for anyone wearing a Liverpool shirt."
