Al-Zawraa Club Signs Goalkeeper Hussein Hassan
Thursday 07-08-2025
Al-Zawraa Club announced its official signing of goalkeeper Hussein Hassan coming from Al-Karkh Club, in a permanent transfer deal aimed at securing the goalkeeping position for the upcoming seasons.

Hussein Hassan is considered one of the most prominent names in Iraqi football in recent years, as he serves as the starting goalkeeper for the Iraqi Olympic team, and he has previously represented Iraq in several continental and international tournaments, most notably the AFC U-23 Asian Cup and the qualifiers for the Paris Olympics, where he showcased impressive performances that caught the attention of several clubs in the Premier League.

At just 21 years old, the goalkeeper, despite his young age, possesses good experience at both local and international levels, having appeared confidently and steadily in goal for Al-Karkh, which prompted Al-Zawraa to enter direct negotiations with the club's management to finalize the deal.

This step comes amid Al-Zawraa's need to refresh the goalkeeping position, especially after the departure of some players or the decline in performance of others last season, as the team suffered from a lack of stability in this position, leading the coaching staff to emphasize the necessity of signing a young and promising goalkeeper capable of making an immediate impact, while also representing a long-term investment for the team.

The management of Al-Zawraa Club expressed its happiness with the completion of the deal and confirmed in its official statement that signing Hussein Hassan came after closely monitoring his level during the recent period, whether with the Olympic team or with Al-Karkh in the Premier League. They clarified that signing an international goalkeeper at this age aligns with the club's plans to build a young team capable of competing locally and continentally in the coming years.

For his part, goalkeeper Hussein Hassan expressed his great enthusiasm to wear the Al-Zawraa jersey, expressing his pride in joining a club with a rich history and a wide fan base. He confirmed that he will do his utmost to earn the trust of the coaching staff and the fans, and that his goal is to deliver the best performance and contribute to winning titles with the white team.
