Konaté: Ready for the New Season, Our Goal is to Retain the Premier League Title
Monday 28-07-2025
French defender Ibrahima Konaté of Liverpool FC has announced his complete readiness for the 2025/2026 football season, confirming that the team's goal is to retain the Premier League title.

Konaté, 26 years old, expressed his great admiration for the signings made by the club during the current summer transfer window, which included prominent names such as Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, Kerkes, and Hugo Ekitike.

He said: "I think every team wants to win against Liverpool now, and on our part, we also want to maintain the Premier League title that we achieved last season."

He added: "We were the Premier League champions last season, but that's over now; we have to come back and try to deliver something better than last season."

He continued: "Next season will be much tougher, and we are certainly very happy with what we achieved, but we must be cautious. Last season, we came back with a new coach who had a great idea and told us before the season what it takes to win the Premier League title, and we just followed what he told us. In the end, I think we had a remarkable season."

Regarding the new arrivals to the team, Konaté said: "We have some fantastic players joining us, but I don't want to put pressure on them. We just need to give them enough time to adapt because they haven't experienced playing in the Premier League yet, but I'm sure it will become easier with this team, and with these people around them, adapting will definitely be easy."

Konaté has a contract with Liverpool that runs until the summer of 2026, and no agreement has yet been reached to renew it.
