Spanish radio station "Cadena Ser" revealed that Brazilian Vinicius Junior has asked Real Madrid's management to equal his salary with that of Kylian Mbappe in order to agree to renew his contract with the royal club.

According to the report, negotiations between the two parties have stalled, despite the agreement being nearly finalized earlier in the season. However, the player's agent demanded a significant salary increase during the recent talks, which surprised Real Madrid's management.

The royal club expressed its astonishment at the timing of the request, especially after a season in which Vinicius did not deliver his best performances. However, they are not worried as the player's contract extends until the summer of 2026, allowing ample time for renegotiation.

The management believes that Vinicius has a year to regain his form and prove his worth for a salary increase, while emphasizing that equating him with Mbappe is not an option. If no agreement is reached, the club may consider selling him, especially with a previous offer from a Saudi club worth 200 million euros.

It is worth noting that the renewal agreement included incentives tied to goals and titles, placing Vinicius as the second-highest paid player in the team. However, the player wishes to top the list, which has halted the negotiation process.
