Spanish newspaper 'AS' reported that the future of left-back Ferland Mendy with Real Madrid is in jeopardy, given the competition for his position within the team.

The newspaper explained that Xabi Alonso, the new head coach of the royal club, plans to rely on the duo Carreras and Fran Garcia in the left-back position for the upcoming season, which puts Mendy outside of his tactical considerations.

'AS' added that Real Madrid's management would not oppose Mendy's departure during the current summer transfer window if the player decides to leave the team, noting that the club will not stand in his way.

However, the newspaper pointed out that the biggest obstacle to Mendy's transfer is his recurring injury history, which may affect clubs' interest in acquiring him.



Ferland Mendy has three years left on his contract with Real Madrid, which officially ends on June 30, 2028.
