Negotiations for Donnarumma's Contract Renewal at Paris Saint-Germain
Thursday 24-07-2025
The future of Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma with Paris Saint-Germain is in doubt, as negotiations for his contract renewal have become complicated during the current summer transfer window, according to Spanish newspaper "AS".

Donnarumma delivered an impressive performance last season, playing a significant role in the Parisian team's victory in the UEFA Champions League, alongside winning the domestic treble: the league, the cup, and the super cup. The team also reached the final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup before losing to Chelsea 3-0.

The newspaper pointed out that the disagreement between the two parties lies in Donnarumma's desire for a higher salary in recognition of his level, while Paris Saint-Germain's management proposed a variable contract that includes a salary linked to the number of appearances, instead of a fixed salary.

Donnarumma's current contract expires in the summer of 2026, and the French club's management is eager to finalize the renewal as soon as possible to avoid his departure on a free transfer.

For his part, the Italian goalkeeper has expressed a desire to experience a new challenge in the English Premier League, which he revealed during his participation in the Club World Cup. Chelsea is considered the most interested party in signing the player to strengthen the goalkeeper position in preparation for the 2025/2026 season.
