Al-Ahli President: We Have Not Been Officially Notified, But We Are Most Entitled to Participate in the Super Cup
The president of Al-Ahli Saudi Club stated in press remarks that his club has not yet received any official notification from the Saudi Football Federation regarding its participation instead of Al-Hilal in the Saudi Super Cup.
The president confirmed that the club sees itself as the most entitled to participate in case one of the teams withdraws, explaining that the team is fully prepared to enter the tournament atmosphere should it be officially called upon by the organizing authorities.
The management of Al-Hilal Club had made its final decision to apologize for participating in the Saudi Super Cup for the 2025-2026 season, which will be held in Hong Kong from August 19 to 23.
Al-Hilal's apology came as a result of the team's recent return from the United States, where it participated in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, prompting the coaching staff to prefer to rest the players to avoid fatigue before the start of the new season.
Consequently, Al-Ahli's participation in the tournament remains contingent on an official notification from the Football Federation, while the list of participating teams currently includes Al-Nasr, Al-Ittihad, and Al-Qadisiyah.
There is a state of anticipation within the Saudi sports community, waiting for the official resolution regarding the identity of the team replacing Al-Hilal in the Super Cup, with increasing expectations for Al-Ahli's participation.
